The Neighbor’s Secret
Shalini’s husband had gone to Bangalore for work for a month, leaving her alone in their flat. I lived on the first floor, and she lived on the second. One night, I saw her coming down the stairs. I called out to her, and she responded with a “Hi.” “Where are you going?” I asked. “I’m going to the store to buy candles,” she replied. “Let me get them for you,” I offered. “No, no, it’s okay, I’ll get them myself,” Shalini insisted. But I ignored her and went downstairs to buy the candles. When she came out of her flat, she had changed into a nightgown. The hook was undone, revealing her beautiful breasts. My gaze was immediately drawn to them. She seemed to know exactly what I was looking at and said, “Come in, Gaurav, have some tea.” I couldn’t resist the opportunity to enter her home.
Inside, she made us tea, which we both enjoyed. Then, I asked her about her husband. “He hasn’t been around much lately,” she sighed. “It’s not like he’s completely absent, but he’s not really there either.” She continued, “There’s this woman at his office – they have an affair. He doesn’t pay much attention to me anymore. I don’t know what it is about that woman that he finds so appealing and what’s missing in me.”
