Escaping miracle-2
We talked about his parents, whom live in Europe now. He also has a younger sister that is in her Junior year of high school. He loves music, plays the guitar, and enjoys sports, reading (I know, that was a shocker for me too), and loves going out with friends.
I don’t talk much except for the basic stuff like where I am from, what I like and don’t like to do, and the occasional comments on the things he says.
Playing with the empty glass in my hand, I listen as he talks about his job. It’s when he says something about working on a murder case is when I stop him.
“Wait, a murder?” I ask, not entirely sure what job he is implying.
“Yes, a murder. Why?” Adam asks, confused.
“What do you do?”
“I am a cop.”
My mouth goes dry and my heartbeat quickens. If he is a cop that means he will know Jonathan.
Fuck, fuck, fuck.
“What’s wrong?” He asks when he notices the fear crossed over my face.
“I-I think it’s time for me to go.” I stand up and grab the bookbag full of my things. “It was nice meeting you. Thank you so much for making a delicious lunch. I hope all goes well. Goodbye” Without another word, I walk away from him.
